    2019 Engineering and Technical Degree Scholarship Recipients

  • The ASHE Mid-Allegheny Section is pleased to announce Mr. Corbin McHale as their 2018-2019 engineering scholarship recipient and Ms. Laurie Wilber as their 2018-2019 technical degree scholarship recipient.


  • Engineering Scholarship Winner – Corbin McHale

  • Corbin is a civil engineering major at Penn State University, where he maintains an impressive balance of academic achievements and extracurricular involvement. Corbin’s activities at Penn State include serving as the vice president of his school’s engineering club, volunteering as a mathematics and physics tutor, serving as the lead for Penn State’s 2018 Environmental Project, and participating in intramural volleyball. Corbin’s academic accomplishments include being named to the Dean’s List and receiving the Michael Baker Scholarship for multiple semesters. Corbin hopes to expand upon his education in his professional career and work with others in the field of engineering to find lasting solutions to real-world problems. Congratulations Corbin and good luck!


  • Technical Scholarship Winner – Laurie Wilber

  • Laurie will be entering her final year at the Pittsburgh Technical College and excels as an accomplished student while maintaining involvement in a number of activities outside of the classroom. When time has permitted around her class schedule, Laurie has worked part-time at Fox’s Pizza Den, volunteered at the Potter County Family Fun Fair, and has served as a volunteer at local nursing homes. Laurie has received several academic awards during her time at Pittsburgh Technical College including Perfect Attendance, Honors, High Honors, and was nominated twice for the Outstanding Student Award. Laurie attributes her hard-working attitude to her parents. She appreciates the opportunities she has been given and places a high value on her education, believing that what she learns now will serve as a strong foundation for achieving her career goals. Congratulations Laurie and good luck!
